Autonomic Computing

Agenda 2001

Explanatory Notes
Storage systems costs provide an excellent example. Combine the growing cost of administrating and managing systems with the very real cost of down time: for some applications like supply chain management or ERP, $ 4,000-8,000 per minute of downtime-- and we get an idea of the tremendous impact this complexity has on I/T call.

From a user perspective, things are just as bad-- they want to be able to get the information they need from any device, anywhere-- but this need drives additional complexity.

Where has all this complexity come from?
