IBM Austin Research Laboratory's Low Power Computing
Research Center is pleased to call for papers for the first annual
Austin Conference on Energy-efficient Design. This conference provides
a forum to exchange ideas on low-power techniques and methodologies
and to promote research on critical areas relating to future energy
efficient computing.
The conference will consist of a public session on Monday, February
25th, in which university and government researchers, as well as IBMers,
will participate. Tuesday and Wednesday will consist of IBM internal
sessions, and smaller breakout sessions. The results of the conference
will be reported back to the company through the IBM Corporate Technology
Council.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
Energy-efficient design methodology, modeling,
technology and computer-aided design
- Logic synthesis
- Verification
- Physical design
- System wide power analysis and simulation
- Manufacturability
Energy-efficient VLSI
- Architectures and microarchitectures for energy
efficiency.
- Custom accelerators for improved energy efficiency
- Energy-efficient digital and analog circuit
design.
- CMOS devices and technology for low power.
- Packaging and cooling issues.
- Power generation and conversion.
- Clocking and latching for power efficiency.
Energy-efficient systems
- Disk drives and storage systems.
- System software and applications
- Energy-efficient operating systems
- Energy-efficient code optimizations
- Power-efficient server design
- Pervasive systems and applications
- Wired and wireless applications

We invite you to submit a title and 1-2 paragraph
abstract by e-mail to Stephanie Shaffer at renae@us.ibm.com.
Please indicate whether this should be considered
for the PUBLIC session or the IBM INTERNAL session. All abstracts
must be received by January 15, 2002 in order to have ample
time to put together a program. Each presentation is expected to
be 25 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for Q&A. Exceptions,
e.g., more time for tutorials, will be considered. Work does not
have to be original research but can have tutorial value.
