WHAT IS CEW? Careers in Engineering for Women (CEW) is a one-week, UTcampus-based residential program for middle school girls, designed to increase the representation of women in engineering and technical fields. The purpose of CEW is to motivate young women to pursue a career in engineering, to develop teamwork, communication, and problems solving skills, and to familiarize them with the broad opportunities that an engineering degree can offer.

Two sessions of CEW will be held during June 2001, with 40 girls attending each session. This year, the participants were selected from over 450 applications submitted from girls all across Texas.
