Michelle Zhou is a research manager at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, where she manages the department of intelligent multimedia interaction. She received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University. Her research interests include intelligent user interfaces for information search and analysis, context-sensitive multimedia presentation authoring, dynamic and context-dirven information visualization, and story-based, interactive multimodal 3D games. Dr. Zhou has authored and coauthored a number of papers in automated generation/authoring of animated 3D information visualization and multimedia presentations, including topics on data characterization, visual task characterization, planning-based and machine-learning approaches to dynamic and adaptive visual illustration generation. She chaired the Multimedia PIC at IBM Research from 2002 to 2004.
