Some of our recent projects and publications: Wired for Learning
Wired for Learning is a Lotus Notes/Domino and Java™-based framework for Internet applications that support K-12 education. Components of the framework include communication tools for students, parents, teachers, and mentors, as well as professional development tools for educators' building and sharing of knowledge and resources. Here are some related papers and sites.

Maps
We've built a Web-based
concept mapping tool that incorporates multimedia for knowledge representation
as well as multiple levels of abstraction.

Online
Patient Education
This project is part of a research grant
to Memorial Sloan-Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center from IBM Community Relations.
The goal of the project is to provide cancer patients with comprehensive,
relevant, and readable information via the Web. The first phase involved
re-creating existing Sloan-Kettering Patient Education CDs on the Web using
Notes/Domino.
During the second phase of our project,
we will implement an even more comprehensive information portal for cancer
patients. For it, we intend to utilize some of the latest knowledge
management research being done at IBM. One of those technologies
is IBM's Clever search mechanism (http://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/k53/clever.html).
Our long-term goal for this phase is to
create a Web-based courseware environment and courseware tools within Notes/Domino
that will be reusable for other education projects.

TryScience
TryScience, another
grant project of IBM's (http://www.ibm.com/ibm/ibmgives/grant/arts/tryscience.html),
offers a new way for people to gain access to and discover the science
presented by museums around the world through interactive exhibits, multimedia
adventures, and live camera "field trips." TryScience also provides
hands-on science projects that children, parents, and teachers can do at
home or in school.
Our group's involvement
with TryScience is to apply some of the same technologies we have developed
for Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Our goal is to provide technology to
support users in navigating the Web sites of their member museums.
