eVillage Overview

The eVillage project is designed to enable the distributed, synergistic development of a suite of applications on the Web to support a wide range of important needs within a geographically meaningful area, such as a neighborhood, town, city or region. The long term thrust of the offering is to promote interactions among citizens, groups, schools, businesses and government services as they come together in the community.

Architectural design points are point-of-service self-publishing, distributed and open application development, responsiveness, interactivity, extensibility, user platform independence, a low entry-barrier system, Web based interfaces, end-user tailorability, and meaningful customization for local or regional domains.
