Giridharan Iyengar

A Research Staff member at IBM's T.J.Watson Research Center in Yorktown
Heights, New York.
I am in the Human
Language Technologies department, working on audio-visual speech technologies,
mainly AV speech recognition and AV speech event detection.
Biography:
Before joining IBM, I completed my Ph.D. (1999) from the MIT
Media Laboratory. My thesis "Characterization of Unstructured Video"
(email giyengar@us.ibm.com for a copy) looked at distributional
clustering algorithms for video retrieval applied to cataloguing of home
videos. The focus of this work was to build a set of tools that analyze,
characterize and prepare casually shot footage for interesting reuse such
as making refrigerator magnets, postcards etc. More details in my school
homepage.
